Actinomycosis of Liver and Greater Omentum -A case report-
Actinomycosis, in human infection, by Actinomyces israeli is a chronic suppurative fungal disease by extensive necrosis, fibrosis and sinus formation. Actinomycosis, depending on the site of primary infection, is generally classified as cervicofacial, abdominal and thoracic type. In most instance, the infection of abdominal disease is found closely related to the portion of the intestine, but our case is not confirmed to portion of intestine in the area of actinomycoma. Recently, authors are experienced a case of Actinomycosis of the Liver and Greater omentum. 57-yr-old housewife was admitted to G-S dept. of the Han Yang University hospital on Nov. 8th, 1978 because of right upper abdominal pain and gastric discomfort for 25 days and she was Impressed as cholelithiasis. Microscopically, the received hepatic and omental tissue was showed almost replacement of multiple abscess containing "sulfur granule", chronic and occasionally acute inflammatory cells and fibrosis. Therefore authors are diagnosed by Actinomycosis of Liver and Greater omentum belong to the abdominal type of which the primary site is probable to Liver. The patient was improved by passive administration of Tetracycline and discharged after postoperative 40 days.
