Abstract

Recently, authors have experienced a renal cell carcinoma in five years old female patient. A review of the literature reveals that this is a very rare tumor; only five cases have been previously reported in Korea. This patient was admitted due to the intermittent abdominal pain and palpable abdominal mass. The intravenous pyelography and the ultrasonegraphy revealed a mass at the lower pole of the left kidney and left nephrectomy was performed. The cut surface of the left kidney showed a brownish black buldged out mass measuring 6㎝ in diameter with cysts, focal hemorrhagic and necrotic lesions at the lower pole which was composted of so-called clear cells. And so, we present a case of histologically revealed childhood renal cell carcinoma with a brief review of literature.
